Commuter chaos in the UK ahead of Platinum Jubilee celebrations

As Platinum Jubilee celebrations kick-off for the Queen, many Britts are facing commuter chaos

Families keen to get away for the weekend have been left devastated, with Tui, EasyJet and British Airways all cancelling flights.

EasyJet is suspending some services to a number of popular European destinations, including Amsterdam, Athens, Madrid, Berlin, Milan and Copenhagen.

In total, 40 flights have been scrapped, with the airline announcing they will be cancelling services up until June 6, to try and avoid further on-the-day disruptions.

The company has faced a number of issues recently, with an IT glitch also grounding hundreds of flights.

Meanwhile, British Airways has cancelled more than 100 services, all part of a schedule reduction until October.

The nation’s official carrier says up to 16,000 flights between March and October will be impacted.

However, Tui says they will be cancelling six flights a day until the end of June.
