Jury deliberations in the highly watched defamation battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have kicked off

After six weeks of trial in Virginia, the jury of seven will now come to an unanimous decision for a verdict.

They began their deliberations shortly after both sides delivered their closing arguments.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star is suing his ex-wife for $50 million dollars for an article she wrote in which she claims to be an abuse victim.

Heard, is counter-suing for double the money.

Depp’s lawyer asked jurors to “hold Ms Heard accountable for her ‘lies'”.

Heard’s team responded, saying it was Depp who is a bully and abuser, not to be trusted.

Benjamin Rottenborn, who is a lawyer for Heard, told jurors to stand up for freedom of speech and shut down rumours Heard is lying about allegations of abuse.

Depp’s lawyer and fan-favourite, Camille Vasquez, then called Heard’s allegations of abuse “wild, over the top and implausible”.
