Queen makes first public appearance in months to honour her husband

Britain and much of the world has taken a collective sigh of relief after Queen Elizabeth attended the memorial service for her late husband, Prince Philip

The occasion was held at Westminster Abbey, and marks the monarch’s first public outing in months.

Concerns were growing for Elizabeth after she spent a night in hospital last October for an unspecified illness and told to rest.

ROYAL FAMILY GATHERS FOR MEMORIAL

Buckingham palace says the Queen played a big role in planning the occasion.

The service comes after Philip’s original funeral was overshadowed by the then-raging coronavirus pandemic, in which only 30 dignitaries were able to attend due to restrictions.

Joining Her Majesty in attendance were foreign kings and queens, friends of Philip, politicians, military figures and more than 500 other representatives.

Four generations of the Royal Family also attended the Westminster event, including embattled Prince Andrew.

The Queen was wearing a brooch Philip gave her more than 50 years ago.
