Wait continues for Gray Report into Downing Street lockdown parties

Published

on

The wait continues for the release of Sue Gray’s highly-anticipated report into alleged COVID-19 lockdown parties held at Downing Street.

The British House of Commons has adjourned for the day, with Number 10 confirming the findings haven’t yet been provided to the U.K. Prime Minister’s Office.

Many conservative Tory MPs are continuing to stand by the PM, saying they will wait for the report to be released before deciding whether or not they still have faith in Boris Johnson’s leadership.

Adjacent to the report, Britain’s Metropolitan Police have also launched an inquiry into potential COVID-19 law breaking.

Opposition Leader Kier Starmer says the UK is battling through the “shameful spectacle” of having the Prime Minister of the country being subject to a police investigation.

“He is unable to leave the country,” Starmer explained. “Every day his Cabinet fail to speak out, they become more and more complicit.

Johnson hit back at Starmer’s remarks, saying he can understand why the opposition leader would want him out of a job.

“We love this country,” Johnson quipped. “And we want to help this country.”

The report is expected to be handed down soon, with Downing Street confirming they intend to publish the report in the format in which it is received.

Johnson will give opposition party members the opportunity to study the findings before they make a statement to Parliament.

Trump claims Iran’s military largely neutralized; tensions rise with attacks threatening air travel and oil shipping.

President Trump says Iran’s military capability has been largely neutralised, including its navy and air force, as the conflict in the Middle East intensifies. Iranian attacks have threatened commercial air travel and oil shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears of wider economic fallout.

The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh has faced two attacks, while Gulf states worked to intercept further Iranian strikes. Officials report six U.S. troops killed and more than 700 deaths inside Iran as the exchange of fire escalates.

With global markets watching closely, the region remains on edge as military and diplomatic tensions show no signs of easing.
