Former FBI agent supports “death penalty” for man accused of Wisconsin horror

Police in Wisconsin have identified the man suspected of driving through a crowd of people at a Christmas parade in Waukesha

Law enforcement sources in the midwestern U.S. state of Wisconsin Identified the suspected driver of the vehicle as 39-year-old Milwaukee man Darrell Brooks.

Officials say at least five people were killed and more than 43 others were injured in the incident in the small city just west of Milwaukee.

Brooks has now officially been charged with five counts of homicide

Speaking to Ticker News, Former FBI agent, Jonathan T Gilliam says Brooks has an extensive criminal history, and was on bail at the time of his alleged offence

Gilliam says officials in Wisconsin should consider the death penalty for the 39-year-old allegedly responsible.

A local Milwaukee television station, citing police and court sources, say Brooks was released from jail Friday on bail. The report says he had been arrested and charged with felony bail jumping, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct and battery.

Police say the annual Waukesha Christmas parade was underway in the downtown area late afternoon local time and had only been so for around 30 minutes, when the vehicle drove through the parade route at high speed.

Over 50 people have been injured in the attack and five innocent lives have been lost.
