U.S offers $10m reward for information on Colonial Pipeline hackers

The U.S government has offered a reward of up to $10 million for information about the cyberattack on the Colonial Pipeline

In May, a group known as DarkSide committed a ransomware attack that shut down a vital 5,500-mile long fuel pipeline on America’s east coast.

The pipeline carries 45 percent of the fuel supply used on the east coast.

The reward has been offered for information that can lead up to the “identification or location of any individuals”  in a leadership position with DarkSide.

In addition to the bounty, a separate $5 million reward has been offered for information ta can lead up to an arrest of anyone involved in the cyber attack.

The attack caused fuel shortages across the U.S after the Colonial Pipeline company shut down its operations for several days.

The company eventually paid up $4.4 million ransom in Bitcoin.
