Pentagon review finds no misconduct or negligence associated with the accident

The U.S. airstrike that killed 10 Afghan civilians in August was not found to be caused by misconduct or negligence.

The Pentagon conducted its independent review, and concluded that disciplinary action was unnecessary.

The review labelled the event as a communication breakdown, occurring during the identification and confirmation of the bombing target but the misfire occurred despite “prudent measures to prevent civilian deaths”.

The report did not hold the Pentagon responsible for the incident which killed a U-S humanitarian worker along with nine of his family members.
