Automotive giant, Volvo is planning to go leather-free by 2030

Volvo is anticipating all the models it sells to be leather-free by 2030, a move which represents the latest example of how automakers are looking to make their vehicles more sustainable.

The automotive company made the announcement stating it wanted a quarter of the material used within its new cars to “consist of recycled and bio-based content” by 2025

But what material will the car giant use?

One of the interior materials it will look to use, called Nordico, is made up of textiles derived from recycled materials like polyethylene terephthalate bottles as well as “material from sustainable forests in Sweden and Finland, and corks recycled from the wine industry.”

Volvo says while it plans to move away from animal-sourced products, it would be open to offering responsibly sourced alternatives

While Volvo intends to scrap the use of leather within its cars, the automotive company confirmed that it would “continue to offer wool blend options from suppliers that are certified to source responsibly.”

Volvo plans to go all-electric by 2030, too, only producing EV’s from that year onwards.

The car manufacture is keen to become a leader when it comes to electric vehicle technology.

This is the first time Zuckerberg has addressed concerns about child safety directly before a jury, with KGM’s case acting as one of around 20 test trials aimed at gauging how jurors respond to claims that social media companies knowingly fuel harmful engagement.

The outcome could set the tone for future litigation against tech giants and reshape how platforms are designed, regulated and held accountable.
