The United Nations General Assembly has convened in New York, with leaders from every part of the globe taking the opportunity to address the world

US President Joe Biden used his address to speak about America’s Afghanistan withdrawal, declaring that this was a turning point in history.

Biden says the “relentless 20-year war” will be replaced with “relentless diplomacy” as he affirmed his commitment to the U-N and America’s allies.

In a commitment to the future, Biden pledged to give $11 billion a year to developing nations to assist them with the ongoing climate crisis.

Biden’s inaugural UN address carried a vastly different tone to that of his predecessor, Donald Trump.

Trump used his speech to voice his district of the United Nations… whilst Biden called it a “noble institution”.

However, Biden’s remarks were met with distrust given the events of the past few months, including in Afghanistan and the recent formation of the AUKUS alliance.

But, Biden says his nation has “turned the page”
