Origins of Covid-19 – China’s new proposal

Published

on

China is pushing to change the parameters surrounding the second phase of the investigation into the origins of Covid-19

It comes in response to the White House pushing for a deeper probe surrounding allegations that the virus leaked from a lab in Wuhan.

But China’s foreign ministry has suggested a counterproposal as to how the World Health Organisation should look into the orgins.

Spokesperson Zhao says “the study that has already been carried out in phase one…should not be carried out again in the second phase.”

China has been accused over recent times of stalling the investigation and making it difficult for authorities to access relevant information.

Earlier this year, the WHO concluded that the virus did originate from animal-to-person contact and not from a lab.

However, this has been challenged by many western nations who say the experts assembled by the WHO lacked the skills to determine whether or not a lab leak was the cause.
