New leadership announced

His comments were the first since his appointment as supreme leader after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was assassinated in U.S.-Israeli air strikes.

Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in the attack that killed his father and other family members.

He vowed that Iran would seek revenge for the deaths of its martyrs and urged national unity.

At 56, Khamenei is considered a more hard-line leader than his predecessor, despite previously maintaining a low profile.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed disappointment over Khamenei’s selection by Iranian clerics, suggesting he cannot ensure peace.

Oil prices soar

Following Khamenei’s remarks, oil prices continued to rise, reflecting concerns over disrupted shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has indicated that the price per barrel could potentially reach $200 amid ongoing tensions.

The situation underscores the significant geopolitical ramifications following the recent leadership changes in Iran.
