Recent Wimbledon champion drops to number seven in ATP rankings

It turns out winning Wimbledon isn’t enough, as Novak Djokovic drops to seventh in the Association of Tennis Professionals rankings.

It’s Djokovic’s lowest position in four years, and comes after ranking points were removed from this year’s Championships.

The 35-year-old went into the British Grand Slam ranked third, and has since fallen outside of the top five for the first time since 2007.

It follows a decision to ban Russian and Belarusian players in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Serbian star started the season as the clear number one, but quickly lost the ranking when he failed to get his Covid vaccination. The scandal lead to him getting deported from Australia ahead of the first major.
