New investigation into police response on day of Uvalde shooting

Just weeks after the Uvalde massacre, the U.S. Justice Department has confirmed it has launched an investigation into the response of law enforcement officials on that day

The U.S. Attorney General says the findings will be made public, with the review prompted by growing anger over the delay of authorities intervening.

18-year-old Salvador Ramos was left to remain in a classroom at Robb Elementary School for up to an hour before police moved in.

During this time, officers were waiting in a school hallway, as children called out for help.

The shooting ultimately came to an end when a U.S. Border Patrol-led tactical team burst into the classroom and killed the gunman.

The Attorney General says the investigative team will visit the school and interview local officials, who have promised to cooperate.
