Flooding in Bali kills at least six, many evacuated

Heavy rains in Bali have caused severe flooding, resulting in at least six fatalities.

The downpour over two days led to significant water inundation in five cities, including Denpasar, prompting large-scale evacuations.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with around 200 personnel addressing low-lying areas where several individuals are reported missing. The heavy rains also caused a building collapse in West Denpasar, contributing to the death toll.

Local residents expressed their shock at the unprecedented rainfall, noting they have never experienced such extremes in Bali.

One resident reported being isolated by flooding in her home, recalling the continuous rain and the fear it caused.

Rescue teams must act swiftly to ensure the safety of those still missing. Local officials are under pressure to provide effective relief measures.

Authorities are currently managing traffic chaos due to limited access to Denpasar’s international airport, further complicating recovery efforts. In addition to Bali, flooding incidents in East Nusa Tenggara have also claimed four lives.
