Singapore’s Prime Minister has delivered a live address to his nation, declaring virus restrictions may be relaxed in a fortnight.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says that barring another super-spreader cluster, the city-state “should be on track” to bring the current outbreak under control.

Singapore is dealing with its worst COVID flare-up since last year, resulting in the introduction of lockdown-like restrictions.

The PM says if the situation continues to improve, the current restrictions should be able to be eased after June 13.

The Prime Minister also expects COVID-19 to become endemic believing the “virus will continue to circulate in pockets of the global population for years to come.”

Hsien Loong has also provided an updated schedule for the vaccine rollout.

Everyone in society who is eligible for a vaccination and wants one should be able to get at least their first jab by Singapore’s National Day which falls on August 9.

Crude oil surges 7% amid fears of Middle East conflict; Strait of Hormuz disruptions may push Brent over $100.

Crude oil prices spiked dramatically as investors react to the growing risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East. U.S. crude surged 7.2 percent, trading near $71.84 a barrel, signalling heightened concern across energy markets.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping chokepoint, has come under intense scrutiny. Rising war-risk insurance premiums and suspended tanker traffic are already slowing the movement of oil, creating ripple effects in global supply chains.

JPMorgan has warned that prolonged disruptions over three weeks could force Gulf producers to reduce output, potentially pushing Brent crude prices to between $100 and $120 a barrel. Markets are closely watching for developments that could reshape global energy pricing.
