The King’s visit to North England didn’t go eggs-actly as planned, King Charles and Camilla narrowly avoided being covered in egg yolk

King Charles and his wife, Queen consort Camilla, barely flinched as four eggs flew past their heads.

During a walkabout in York, a protester booed the royal couple and threw eggs whilst shouting “this country was built on the blood of slaves”

Police quickly detained the 23-year-old man, identified by British media as former Green Party candidate and Extinction Rebellion activist Patrick Thelwell.

Other people in the crowds started chanting “God Save the King” and “shame on you” at the protester.
