U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi says the U.S. will ‘never allow’ Beijing to isolate Taiwan

Now back in Washington, U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said her nation will never allow Beijing to isolate Taiwan.

China said it has officially completed its latest round of military drills around the hotly contested region.

Pelosi’s trip sparked anger in Beijing, which views Taiwan as a breakaway province that could be reunited to the mainland by force, if necessary.

But leaders in Taiwan are accusing China of using the drills as a practice for an imminent invasion.

China’s response to Pelosi’s visit included four days of live-fire exercises, as well as anti-submarine attacks and sea raid rehearsals.

An overwhelming majority Taiwan’s population believe in democracy and oppose any unification with China.
