Joe Manchin hails legislation he almost killed

U.S. Democratic Senator Joe Manchin has hailed his party’s new inflation and climate bill, despite almost personally killing it off

The West Virginia representative did a full round of TV interviews, telling CBS’ Face the Nation the deal is ‘great for America’ and will successfully tackle inflation.

But Republicans disagree, saying the spending will only add to the ongoing economic crisis, as inflation remains at a 40-year-high.

Manchin conceded Biden’s previous spending packages he supported, including last year’s America Rescue Plan, had contributed to the nation’s current economic uncertainty.

The legislation could pass through the Senate as early as this week.

Manchin believes this latest spend spend will aggressively produce more energy, which will get more supply and inevitably “get prices down”.
