U.S. President Joe Biden has addressed calls to declare an abortion-related public emergency, as protestors gathered outside the White House demanding action

It comes after Biden signed an executive order to ease access to services when terminating a pregnancy.

Riding a bike near his home in Delaware, he stopped to speak to reporters.

When asked if a public health emergency was being considered, Biden said his staff are working to see whether his office has “the authority” to make such a declaration.

But ultimately, the president says his goal is to codify abortion rights into law.
