North Korea has fired three missiles towards the Sea of Japan, according to South Korea’s military

North Korea has launched three ballistic missiles into the sea.

The tests come one day after Joe Biden wrapped up his first visit to Asia as U.S. President.

It is understood that South Korea’s new President, Yoon Seok-youl has overseen a meeting of the National Security Council to discuss the launches.

President Yoon has vowed to get tough with Pyongyang after five years of stalled talks.

Meanwhile, Japan’s Defence Minister says the tests are a provocative act that cannot be tolerated.

“We cannot ignore North Korea’s recent noticeable technological development for nuclear and missile-related tests.”

North Korea is under strict U.N. sanctions, which it continues to ignore.

“Their repeated ballistic missiles launches and their actions are a threat to our country, the region and the international community’s peace and security, and we absolutely cannot tolerate that,” says Kishi.

Earlier this year, it test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile at full range for the first time since 2017.
