Cricketer banned after accidentally taking father’s heart medication

26-Year-Old South African Cricketer, Zubayr Hamza, has received a nine-month ban after accidentally taking his father’s heart medication.

The batter tested positive for the prohibited substance and claims he intended to take his own medication but it got mixed up with his dad’s heart tablets.

The ban is backdated to March 22, 2022, after testing positive for the banned substance furosemide.

The International Cricket Council has accepted his explanation but has given him a lengthy ban from the pitch.

“I have never intentionally taken a prohibited substance and I am relieved that the ICC determination confirms this fact,”

The ICC stresses to other cricketers that they “remain responsible for anything they put into their bodies.”

Hamza will miss the summer tour of England.

President Trump says Iran’s military capability has been largely neutralised, including its navy and air force, as the conflict in the Middle East intensifies.
