Fears for North Korea as nation sees Covid spike

Published

on

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered in the military in an attempt control his nation’s first ever confirmed Covid outbreak

The army will be used to stabilise the supply of medicines in Pyongyang… with fears the virus may devastate the country.

North Korea says it is battling an “explosive” outbreak with no vaccine programme and limited medical supplies.

At an emergency meeting, Kim criticised the “irresponsible” organising ability of the Cabinet and the nation’s public health sector.

Kim says medical reserves purchased by the government are not reaching people in a timely and accurate manner.

North Korea believes a “large proportion” of deaths so far are a result of citizens being “careless in taking drugs due to the lack of knowledge and understanding of Omicron”.
