Poland’s Prime Minister is accusing Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin of planning the ongoing border crisis

The PM says that Belarus’s authoritarian leader is orchestrating the crisis, but “it has its mastermind in Moscow”.

The European Commission is accusing Belarus of luring migrants to the Polish border by offering them promises of salvation and entry to the EU

The Commission has labeled the actions as both “inhuman” and “gangster-style” in its major attack against the authoritarian government.

At least 2,000 migrants are currently positioned at Poland’s border with Belarus, as the individuals suffer through sub-zero temperatures and challenging conditions.

At least eight people have died on the Polish side of the border, with no indication how many have passed away whilst in Belarus.

The European Commission’s spokesperson says “upon arrival the migrants are being pushed to the border and forced to make an illegal entry into the European Union”.

This comes as the leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko denies orchestrating the crisis.

EU member nations Poland, Lithuania and Latvia have all noted a surge in the number of people trying to enter their countries illegally from Belarus recently.
