Who is ‘stonewalling’ U.S President Joe Biden’s agenda?

Published

on

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has called out Senate centrists for “stonewalling” Joe Biden’s domestic agenda

It comes as Pelosi says she is planning to schedule the vote on the highly anticipated infrastructure bill on Thursday, but will use her power to delay the vote if necessary.

Speaking to reporters, the Speaker of the House says her party is taking this all “one step at a time”.

Pelosi also reiterated that she will not bring any legislation to the floor which she believes does not have the required support to pass.

This follows leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus warning that half of their members are prepared to vote against the infrastructure bill unless the larger social spending package is also passed at the same time.

If the vote is delayed, this will likely anger the moderate Democrats who have been promised immediate approval of the Senate-passed bipartisan bill.

Meanwhile, White House Chief of Staff Jen Psaki says the next few days are likely to be similar to a scene from a TV show
