We have lost a true Hollywood and “our girl” – the Australian icon

Olivia Newton John has passed away at the age of 73

She was an icon for so many battling cancer, as she had done for such a long time.

In a post on Facebook, her family says:

Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund

Olivia rose to stardom for her remarkable performance in hit musical “Grease” where she co-starred alongside Actor John Travolta, in 1978.

She was just 29 years of age, playing the role of an innocent teen in love with the bad boy.

Tributes are pouring in for Olivia Newton John.

Travolta has released a statement in tribute to the late icon.

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better…Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”

Her initial diagnosis was all the way back in 1992, when doctors told her she had breast cancer, before discovering cancer again in her shoulder, following a car accident in 2013.

“My husband makes me tinctures that help me immensely with pain, inflammation, sleep and anxiety,” the singer told Closer.

Life-saving legacy

Newton-John’s courage was more often than not a source of strength for the millions of people who are also fighting their own cancer battles.

At Melbourne’s Austin Hospital, Olivia Newton-John gave her name to the Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, because she believed so passionately in its philosophy of wellness.

For more than 10 years, Olivia championed the vision to build a world-class hospital, supporting patients in body, mind and spirit.

She received her OBE in 1979 and DBE in 2020, for her services to charity, cancer research and entertainment.

FDA APPROVES BREAKTHROUGH MEDICATION FOR WOMEN

On the same day her death is announced, the FDA approves the first medication for a newly recognised breast cancer, called Enhertu

In clinical trials, the medication almost doubled the life expectancy of women living with the cancer without it getting any worse.

When compared with standard chemotherapy, it increased survival from around 17 months to 24 months.

The FDA says patients are eligible for Enhertu if the cancer has spread beyond the breast and they’ve already received standard chemo.

Is Netflix going bankrupt?

Published

on

2022 hasn’t been good for the streaming giant, In April alone the company said that they lost subscribers for the first time in ten years

And on top of that, it’s stock price has plummeted more than 60% so far this year.

Some have speculated that these are indications that Netflix is going down, and going down fast.

But they’re probably wrong, because Netflix is simply transforming into what CNN Business has referred to as a ‘traditional media company’.

What does that entail?

Like many technology companies, Netflix relied on subscribers and that was based on producing plus streaming movies and tv shows-on the platform in return for a fee.

It was only in 2019 when Netflix was ranked as America’s fastest growing brand, and many conventional media companies like Disney, Paramount and Warner Bros. amongst others started imitating the Netflix model.

But now it seems, Netflix will imitate them. And that means it will start having advertisements.

And the streaming platform has already changed the way it’s releasing new shows.

Instead of what we’re used to, which was a release of the entire series – to a more gradual release.

And the streaming company also says that it will crackdown on password sharing.

Netflix has always been regarded as a tech company, but now it’s transitioning to a media company.

It’s not in trouble, It’s simply transforming to a more traditional business model.
