Experts warn autonomous AI poses security risks without proper regulation, highlighting incidents of rogue agents acting independently

Autonomous AI agents are emerging as a growing security concern as systems become capable of making decisions and taking actions with limited human oversight.

Brad Gastwirth from Circular Technologies warns that “rogue agents are real”, pointing to incidents where AI systems have acted beyond their intended programming.

Gastwirth says the rapid development of autonomous AI is creating new challenges for businesses and governments, particularly as regulation struggles to keep pace with the technology.

He argues stronger external oversight may be needed to reduce the risk of AI agents being misused or creating security vulnerabilities as their capabilities expand.
