An armed suspect has shot and killed a state police K9 dog in a Massachusetts stand-off
A wanted man in Massachusetts has shot and killed a state police K9 dog.
The 38-year-old suspect was wanted on gun-related charges from earlier this month.
When contacted by authorities, the armed man reportedly barricaded himself inside his home in Fitchburg.
Police say he was armed, as a SWAT team and crisis negotiators tried to convince him to stand down.
Eventually a SWAT team, including the K9 named Frankie and his handler entered the premises to try and apprehend the man.
The man then fired multiple shots, hitting 9-year veteran, Frankie, who was rushed to an emergency vet where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect then shot himself and was found dead inside his home.
