North Korea fires 23 missiles in on day as the South hits back

North Korea fires its most missiles in a single day, as hostilities between the North and South continue to escalate.

The rogue nation fired at least 23 weapons, with one landing less than 60km off the South’s city of Sokcho.

Seoul responded with warplanes, firing three air-to-ground missiles across the long-disputed maritime boundary.

Pyongyang says recent military drills conducted by the U.S. and South Korea are to blame for its recent aggression.

In Japan, the nation’s government has commented on North Korea’s actions, after a potential ballistic missile landed just outside its Exclusive Economic Zone.

On Tuesday, Pyongyang warned South Korea and the U.S. will pay “the most horrible price in history” if they continue their joint drills.

This has been viewed as a ‘veiled threat’ on the path to using nuclear weapons.

Despite ongoing sanctions, North Korea has conducted six nuclear tests between 2006 and 2017.

There are now rumours the country is planning a seventh.

The North is continuing to advance its military capabilities, threatening its neighbours and even mainland America.
