NBA legend Dennis Rodman is heading to Russia in an attempt to release fellow basketball star Brittney Griner

Speaking to NBC, Rodman says “I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl, I’m trying to go this week.”

Top officials at the Biden administration believe Rodman’s visit to Russia could do more harm than good.

However, Rodman insists he “knows Putin too well”

Griner has been sentenced to 9 years in jail for “drug possession”.

Her lawyers have filed an appeal, and talks at the White House are also underway.

State Department spokesperson Ned Price, the U.S. is continuing “to work with the utmost urgency”
