Melbourne protestor slapped with counter-terror charges

Published

on

Counter-terrorism officials have officially charged a man who allegedly encouraged anti-lockdown protesters to bring firearms to State Parliament and execute the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews

The criminal charges are the latest in a string of others imposed by the counter-terrorism unit and follow speculation that neo-Nazi extremists have infiltrated the ongoing anti-lockdown movement.

Hundreds of protestors have been gathering on the stairs of Victoria’s parliament house to protest the continuation of Covid-19 related restrictions.

Meanwhile, the Melbourne anti-lockdown protestor who has been charged allegedly encouraged his fellow demonstrators to “bring out rifles and shotguns”

The revelations follow an investigation by The Age publication which documented evidence that suggests some neo-Nazi figures are not only attending rallies, but they’re also trying to recruit and radicalise other protestors.

It;’s expected that these latest developments will also put pressure on the Victorian opposition, after several opposition MPs expressed public support towards the rallies.
