Chinese rocket lands in Indian and Pacific Oceans

The debris from a Chinese rocket has crashed down to Earth

China’s space agency says most of the remains burnt in the atmosphere, with the remaining pieces falling into the Indian and Pacific oceans.

The rocket had caused some controversy, with its uncontrolled return raising questions about responsibility over so-called ‘space junk’.

But experts say the probability of the vessel falling into a populated area was very low.

NASA has previously called for the Chinese space agency to design rockets which disintegrate into smaller pieces as the re-enter Earth’s atmosphere.

U.S. authorities tweeted the Long March 5 rocket “re-entered over the Indian Ocean at 10:45 am MDT.
