Biden pledges abortion rights to millions of American woman as the midterm elections approach

U.S. President Joe Biden pledges abortion rights in a major announcement.

He is promising to make abortion rights a top priority if the Democrats retain control of both the House and the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.

Biden says he would push to codify Roe v. Wade, in what he believes will be “one of the most significant pieces of legislation” in recent history.

The codification would guarantee abortions as a nation-wide right, protecting women’s reproductive choices regardless of individual state laws.

The move could prove to be a major bargaining chip for Democrats in the lead-up to the midterm elections, as Biden implores citizens to vote

However, it remains unclear just how politically effective such a pledge will be.

The Democrats have major battle ahead in November if they are to keep both the Senate and House.
