Aussie supermarket giant makes muli-million dollar investment in a start up

Supermarket giant Woolworths has made a multi-million dollar investment in Melbourne startup Marketplacer in a bid to compete with the likes of Amazon.

Woolworth’s venture capital arm, W-2-3, made the announcement that will see the supermarket take a minority stake alongside tech safe giant Salesforce

Marketplacer was founded in 2016 and helps users sell their own products and those from third parties. 

Woolworths will launch its own Marketplacer offering later this year, which will include Big W products.
