The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has disclosed that she is battling cancer.

The announcement came via a heartfelt video message released at 6pm UK time on Friday.

In the video, recorded on Wednesday according to BBC reports, Kate expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support during her recovery from surgery.

She disclosed that the cancer was discovered subsequent to her abdominal surgery in January.

While the surgery was successful, post-operative tests revealed the presence of cancer, prompting her medical team to recommend preventative chemotherapy, which she is currently undergoing.

Huge shock

Kate acknowledged the enormity of the news, describing it as a “huge shock.” She revealed that she and Prince William have been navigating this privately to shield their young family, taking time to explain the situation to their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

Despite the diagnosis, Kate emphasized her determination to fight, stating that she is getting “stronger every day” and receiving comfort from William and the overwhelming support from well-wishers.

Kate concluded with a message of solidarity to others affected by cancer, urging them to maintain hope and faith.

King Charles

The announcement comes amidst heightened speculation about her health and follows news of King Charles also undergoing cancer treatment earlier this year.

Buckingham Palace expressed pride in Kate’s courage to speak out, with the King maintaining close contact with her throughout. Kate’s brother, James Middleton, publicly expressed his support for her.

Conspiracy theories surrounding Kate’s absence from public life have circulated online, causing distress to the couple.

The family has been residing at Adelaide Cottage in the Windsor Castle grounds during Kate’s recovery.

The London Clinic, where Kate was treated, is reportedly under investigation for a potential delay in reporting a security breach involving the attempted access of Kate’s medical records.
