Calls for Donald Trump to apologise following a dinner with Kanye West and Nick Fuentes

Former Vice President Mike Pence is calling on Donald Trump to apologise following his dinner with rapper Kanye ‘Ye’ West and neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes.

Trump is facing serious backlash from within the GOP for his meeting with the two individuals.

Pence made the comments during an appearance on NewsNation and says the former President should denounce Fuentes, Ye and their hateful rhetoric.

“Trump was wrong to give a white nationalist, an antisemite and a Holocaust denier a seat at the table. I think he should apologize for it, and he should denounce those individuals and their hateful rhetoric without qualification.”

But when it comes to Trump himself, the former VP is adamant his former boss isn’t a racist or a bigot.

“With that being said … I don’t believe Donald Trump is an antisemite. I don’t believe he’s a racist or a bigot.

People often forget that the president’s daughter converted to Judaism, his son-in-law is a devout Jew, his grandchildren are Jewish.

And so the broad brush of attack that media leveled at him — I think the president demonstrated profoundly poor judgment in giving those individuals a seat at the table.”

Regardless, the comments are almost certainly the most prominent commendation of the former President by a top Republican to date.

In Arkansas, the state’s Governor has taken a similar stance.

Asa Hutchinson says there needs to be more voices like Pence calling out the former President.

Hutchinson believes the Republican party needs to ‘move beyond the Trump era’.
