Fears for hundreds of civilians after bomb hits Ukrainian school

Published

A school in eastern Ukraine was the latest target by Russian forces, as reports suggest dozens of civilians may be dead as a result of the attack

Around 90 people had been sheltering in the building, with 30 have been rescued so-far, after a Russian plane dropped a bomb on the site on Saturday.

The Luhansk region’s governor fears 60 people are feared dead, as the region continues to be targeted by Russian troops and separatist fighters.

Much of Luhansk forms part of the Donbas region, which has been under separatist control for the last eight years.

The village where the attack occurred became a Russian target just last week, and it’s believed almost the entire community was sheltering in the basement of the school.

Firefighters battled the blaze for three hours to extinguish the blaze, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky questions whether a school in small region of Ukraine can actually pose a threat to a world power like Russia.

In the port city of Mariupol, Ukrainian fighters at the steel plant are refusing to give in, telling the world they will not surrender to Russian forces.

They are seeking assistance to evacuate their wounded, as Russia calls for the fighters to lay down their arms.

The fighters are also criticising the Ukrainian government for failing to provide the adequate weaponry to take back the strategic city.

But Zelensky says Ukraine does not have the equipment needed to unblock the city.

Australia’s multimillion-dollar campaign to attract Hollywood productions to its shores appears to be paying off.

The government offers generous rebates and tax breaks to international productions, making it an attractive proposition for filmmakers looking to maximise their budgets.

Despite the recent intake of Hollywood productions down under such as ‘The Fall Guy’ and ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, Aussie independents are still finding the space to carve their own creative path.

Rob Fantozzi joined the program to discuss the latest in Hollywood, and showcased his own upcoming project – ‘Omerta‘. #featured

American home prices are rising at faster pace now than in the last 20-years.

A recent analysis reveals a jaw dropping surge in the cost of American homes.

Since the start of 2020, U.S. home prices have surged 47% easily outstripping the gains seen in recent decades.

On top of that, home price growth so far this decade is on the verge of surpassing all the growth seen in the 2000s.

Many experts believe this decade’s housing market frenzy was ignited by a perfect storm — the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic triggering an unprecedented rush among buyers.

Tom Hutchens, the Executive Vice President of Production at Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions joins Veronica Dudo to discuss.
