India and Russia are tightening their relationship as President Putin visits New Delhi to discuss expanding defence ties

India’s Foreign secretary says “Supplies have begun this month and will continue to happen” and that “whether it is us or Russia, we conduct an independent foreign policy”.

The defence system deal was first agreed upon in 2018 and is seen as a tactical move by India to protect itself against the growing threat of China along its borders.
