There are fresh warnings that a further 100,000 people will die from Covid-19 if immediate action isn’t taken to slow the nation’s fourth wave

Case numbers are continuing to soar, with the country this week recording its highest daily increase in new infections since the pandemic began.

There are now almost 40-thousand reported cases each day, with doctors at one of the leading Covid wards saying this wave could be the worst yet.

The state of Saxony is suffering the most, with the seven-day average infection rate sitting at 459 cases per 100,000 people, whilst the national average is 232.

This surge in Germany is in-line with many other nations right around Europe, with Copenhagen’s government currently considering re-introducing restrictions.

Meanwhile, Germany’s health minister is publicly blaming those who are unvaccinated for the spike in case numbers, describing the current situation as a “pandemic of the unvaccinated”.
