Power play – Russian Kremlin denies energy as a weapon

Published

Russian leaders are denying using energy as a political weapon, as the energy crisis continues and prices skyrocket across Europe

Russia is one of the world’s biggest natural gas suppliers, and the international community is accusing the country of intentionally withholding supplies.

Meanwhile, President Putin has slammed the claims, saying the speculation is “complete rubbish and politically motivated tittle-tattle”.

This all comes as the European Commission moves to enact measures that member nations can use to combat the crisis.

The wholesale price of gas has increased by 250 percent this year… with demand in natural supplies triggered by economies reopening in the wake of Covid.

Putin says Russia is willing to give more gas to Europe if requested and there is “no refusal”.
