US President Joe Biden has used an address in Philadelphia to slam Donald Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was fraudulent

US president Joe Biden has taken swing at former president Donald Trump. He called his claims of a stolen election the true “Big Lie”.

Biden took aim at Republican-led efforts to increase voting restrictions over the past few months in GOP controlled states.

The Republicans’ new election laws seek to limit absentee voting. They also will make it more difficult for certain minority groups to cast their ballots.

States push for voter reforms

During his address, Biden referenced dozens of court challenges raised by Trump. These claims in dispute of the election result all were thrown out by federal judges.

Biden also spoke of his reconfirmed electoral victories in the states of Wisconsin, Arizona and Georgia. These were the states where recounts or audits took place.

Texas is one of several states that have enacted the new restrictive voting measures, with Georgia, Florida, Arizona and others pushing for reform as well.
