HQ7 Studios was created after identifying a gap in local production infrastructure and developed in partnership with the City of Vienna.

That collaboration has helped fuel a thriving film sector, with economic data showing strong returns of up to four euros for every euro invested.

International productions are increasing, post-production capacity is expanding, and global equipment providers are now active in the region.

Even during COVID-19 disruptions, the industry proved highly resilient, quickly resuming operations.

A key advantage is HQ7’s integrated, modular production model, allowing filmmakers to access stages, equipment, and services in one place.

The studio also features purpose-built permanent sets, including hospital and morgue environments designed for high-demand genres like medical and crime dramas, reducing the need for real-location shoots.

Sustainability is another focus, with initiatives to cut waste, reuse props, reduce energy reliance on traditional generators, and encourage more efficient catering practices.

At the same time, the industry is addressing workforce challenges by bringing in skilled tradespeople such as carpenters on flexible contracts, while also working to attract new talent.

Together, these innovations are helping position Vienna as a competitive and sustainable global production hub, with HQ7 Studios at its centre.
