There is growing fear for the women of Afghanistan despite the Taliban saying that women will be respected in the new order

There is growing fear for the women of Afghanistan, with the Taliban warning women who work to stay at home.

The Taliban’s spokesperson says women should not work out of interest for their own safety, fearing that some militants will not be tolerant.

Taliban says they will not treat women in a “disrespectful way”

This all follows the Taliban’s leaders trying to prove to the world that the group has changed and the militants will be more accepting of women.

The spokesperson says the stay-at-home directive is temporary until the group can ensure women are not “treated in a disrespectful way”.

He added that the Taliban’s soldiers “keep changing and are not properly trained.”

UN cuts funding to Afghanistan

This directive comes as the World Bank discontinues funding for Afghanistan.

The UN has called for a “transparent and prompt investigation” into reports of human rights abuses.

Evacuation efforts continue

Meanwhile, evacuation efforts are continuing at great pace out of Kabul’s main international airport.

Around 82,000 civilians have been evacuated so far,. with the Pentagon confirming there are still 10,000 people waiting to leave.

While US President Biden is confident that the August 31 deadline will be met, the Secretary of State says efforts will continue until every person is home.

American home prices are rising at faster pace now than in the last 20-years.
