Trump sues for watchdog

Donald Trump sues to block DOJ from reviewing seized materials until watchdog is appointed

A new court filing is under review regarding the unprecedented and shocking FBI raid on former U.S. President Donald Trump’s private residence, Mar-a-Lago two weeks ago.

On Monday, the former President’s legal team asked a federal judge in South Florida to appoint a special master to make certain that the Justice Department returns any of Trump’s private documents seized during the raid on August 8th.

The suit adds that there may have been privileged materials seized.

In the new court filing in federal court, Trump is requesting a special master also known as a third-party attorney to handle the review of evidence gathered from the beach club in the criminal probe.

Trump is arguing that his constitutional rights were violated and wants the judge to pause federal investigators’ work related to the evidence in this matter until the review is done.

The new lawsuit could slow-roll the Justice Department’s ongoing criminal investigation.

It also marks the first legal filing by Trump’s team after FBI agents carried out their search.
