US claims Iran nuclear deal ‘in sight’

US says the Iran nuclear deal is ‘in sight’ but there is an urgent need to make progress

Nuclear deal talks are to continue on Tuesday in Vienna with Iran and world powers in an effort to restore the landmark pact.

This would mark the eighth round of the talks which were delayed for over a week.

Whether the Join Comprehensive Plan of Action will be revived remains unclear but the different sides have claimed that real progress has been made since late November.

Iran’s government continues to avoid discussing the deal directly with the US due to their abandonment of the deal in 2018 and their enforcement of harsh sanctions on Iran.

European diplomats will therefore continue to bridge diplomacy between the two nations.
