Elon Musk confirms Tesla car prices are on the rise

If you’re in the market for a self-driving Tesla, be prepared to pay a little bit more at the dealership

Tesla boss Elon Musk has confirmed the company’s full-driving system will rise to $15,000 in North America.

Taking effect from September 5, Musk says the current $12,000 price tag will remain in place for all orders made before this date.

This is the second price increase this year alone, and it comes despite scrutiny from federal and state regulators who are investigating whether the system is defective.

Musk notes Tesla owners can can upgrade their existing cars to Full Self Driving via the Tesla app.
