North Korea has confirmed its seventh missile test was a Hwasong-12, the most powerful weapon it has launched since 2017

The long-range missile reached an altitude of 2000 kilometres before crashing into the Sea of Japan.

This has many world leaders concerned, with Japan, South Korea and the US all condemning the launch.

This test comes as North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un pushes to bolster his country’s defences.

The United Nations already prohibits the country from conducting from ballistic and nuclear weapons tests, imposing strict sanctions.

But Kim Jong Un has ignored these warnings, as the North Korean economy struggles to prosper amid US-led sanctions, the Covid pandemic and mismanagement.
