Kensington Palace refuses to comment over Photoshop fail

Published

A heartwarming Mother’s Day picture featuring Kate Middleton and her three children has stirred a storm of controversy.

The image, released by Kensington Palace, marks Kate’s first public appearance since undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

However, it has now been withdrawn by major foreign picture agencies, including Reuters, AP, Getty, and AFP, citing potential digital manipulation.

While Kensington Palace stands by the authenticity of the photo, concerns over potential alterations have prompted its removal from circulation.

AP issued an alert requesting the removal of the image, stating that upon closer inspection, it appeared to have been manipulated. Similar demands were echoed by other agencies, citing editorial reasons.

Editorial issue

AFP issued a directive for the immediate withdrawal of the photo, indicating an editorial issue.

Reuters also stated that the picture was being pulled following a post-publication review.

The move comes amid growing concerns within the news industry regarding the manipulation of photographs using AI technology, although specific details regarding the alterations remain unclear.

Notably, observers pointed out apparent digital alterations in the image, including discrepancies in Princess Charlotte’s wrist and clothing, as well as anomalies in the background scenery.

Photoshop fail

This controversy follows previous scrutiny over the Wales family’s Christmas card, which was criticised for a supposed “Photoshop fail.”

Kensington Palace has refrained from commenting on the matter, further fueling speculation surrounding the princess’s health.

The photo, originally shared on social media channels, was reportedly taken by Prince William earlier in the week at their Windsor home.

Amidst the controversy, the absence of significant updates regarding Kate’s condition from Kensington Palace has drawn criticism.

Elon Musk shifts SpaceX focus from Mars to a 2027 Moon landing, merging with xAI for AI satellite networks.

Elon Musk has set his sights closer to home—literally. SpaceX is now prioritizing the creation of a self-sustaining city on the Moon within the next decade. The ambitious plan marks a major shift from previous Mars-focused strategies, aiming for an uncrewed Starship landing as early as 2027 to support NASA’s Artemis program.

This pivot comes as SpaceX merges with Musk’s xAI, combining the companies into a massive $1.25 trillion valuation. Musk believes the Moon offers practical advantages for launches, making it a more strategic stepping stone for humanity’s future in space.

Alongside lunar ambitions, SpaceX is also developing satellite networks to back AI technologies in orbit. Despite the excitement, NASA’s Artemis program has faced delays, pushing the first crewed lunar flight to March due to technical issues.

Anthropic’s Claude AI now manages coding tasks, boosting productivity by 50% as engineers shift to oversight roles.

Anthropic has confirmed that its AI, Claude, now handles almost all coding tasks at the company. Engineers are shifting from writing code to oversight and planning, marking a major change in how software development teams operate.

Users report a productivity boost of 50 percent since implementing Claude, highlighting the potential of AI to reshape workflows and day-to-day operations. The shift raises questions about the balance between human oversight and automated code generation.

The move has also affected markets, with shares of Indian IT services companies falling as investors assess the impact on traditional tech roles. Industry leaders stress that while AI can generate code, human input remains crucial for design, review, and strategic decision-making.
