Instagram backflips on hiding the ‘likes’ feature

Instagram will now give users the ability to either show or hide how many likes content gets.

The social media platform, which is owned by Facebook Inc. announced it would hide the likes feature for certain users back in 2019. Since then, Instagram has been collecting user feedback after disabling the feature and had expressed their surprise at how positively it was received.

Instagram has since then expressed its interest in elevating this experience and bringing more changes to the feature.

Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri said in a Twitter post acknowledged that some users found it useful to see their like counts, especially to track what is trending and ‘popular’.
