Gunfire erupts at Kabul airport involving Western troops

Germany’s armed forced say a gun battle broke out between unidentified gunmen, Western security forces and Afghan guards at the North Gate of Kabul airport

Thousands of Afghans and foreigners remain at the airport, seeking to flee Taliban rule.

Reports suggest one Afghan guard has been killed and three others have been injured in the battle.

The airport has been a scene of chaos since the Taliban seized the Afghan capital on August 15 as U.S. and international forces try to evacuate citizens and vulnerable Afghans.

While the Taliban have deployed fighters outside the airport, where they have tried to help enforce some kind of order, there are Afghan guards helping U.S. forces inside the airport.

Will the U.S. approve MDMA therapy?

Some medical professionals say it can be helpful for people with post-traumatic stress disorder — which is why a group has been fighting to get MDMA legalized as a prescription drug.

Currently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is reviewing an application to use MDMA to treat PTSD. The agency is expected to announce its ruling as soon as August.
