Glass slippers are on for Cinderella reunion

Brandy is putting on her glass slipper and taking a walk down memory lane

Brandy is recalling her time as Cinderella in the Rodgers and Hammerstein’s remake, which was featured in the late 1990s.

The movie drew 60 million viewers during its premiere and received an Emmy for Outstanding Art Direction.

It was a big moment, as Brandy became the first black Cinderella.

“My dreams when I was a young girl (were) to be a singer, have my own band and meet Whitney Houston,” she said.

The film was an adaptation of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein ||’s 1957 musical comedy.

This year, it is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the film’s stars Whitney Houston, Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters and Jason Alexander being celebrated for their mega efforts.

“The idea of having Cinderella be a young Black girl at the time was an extraordinary idea.”

Alexander played Lionel in the film, which was celebrated for its diversty.

“Suddenly you have a Black woman as a queen, a white man as the king and an Asian man as the prince, and at first glance you go, ‘What?'” he said.
